A large part of what our office does in relation to family law and Divorces is prepare for clients Marriage Contracts (Prenuptial Agreements), and Cohabitation Agreements. A lot of people are afraid of these Agreements for fear of either asking their significant other to sign one or thinking it somehow casts a negative shadow over their love for one another. But the truth is marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements can and do strengthen a relationship, for the simple reason that people often forget to talk about many financial aspects about themselves and even their families before getting into a relationship. Agreements can bring to the forefront issues that can be quickly and amicably resolved between parties not just in the case of break up but in living together.
